Welcome to another exciting year with the HHS Marching Band. The Band Booster Executive Committee has been working with Mr. Hamrick throughout the summer to lay the groundwork for another successful year - building upon the achievements of the year just completed.
All parents and/or guardians are urged to become involved with the Band Boosters organization in whatever capacity you are able. By virtue of having a student in the band, you are automatically a Band Booster. Attending meetings is your best way to be informed about upcoming events, band performances and other activities. As our band grows in numbers our role as financial and moral supporters becomes even more important and we need as much help as we can recruit.
The Band Boosters meet at 7 p.m. the 4th Tuesday of each month in the band room at HHS. We work very hard to keep the meetings to an hour because we know how much you value your time.
As in the past, our largest fundraiser of the year - fully 1/3 of our operating budget - is the operation of the concession stand at Mumaw Stadium. We are open for all events including Freshman, JV and Varsity Football as well as Boy and Girls JV and Varsity Soccer. Please consider giving some time to help. You don't need any experience — we'll teach you everything you need to know. Concession Operation Schedule will be posted some time in early August.
The other area we would ask you to consider volunteering is as a band camp helper. During camp week, the Boosters prepare, serve and clean up for 3 meals plus snacks each day, set up water breaks for the students, and spend time fitting students with their uniforms. We'll also be working in the concession stand preparing for our annual health department inspection. You can sign up for a part of a day, a full day or come and spend the week with us.
We are also recruiting chaperones, equipment haulers and folks to help with some of the other fund raisers - like the Christmas Luminary event at Rosedale Cemetery, Jazz Festival, Hot Soup/Cool Jazz, Basket Bingo, etc. Again, no special skills are required, just willingness to help. Please call a member of the Executive Committee to volunteer. We look forward to hearing from you.
